El Scorchio!

I’m sitting here writing this at 9.30am (GMT time) and it is 28 degrees already! This is unheard of for the South East of England mid morning! Below is a map taken from the Met Office website, that shows the extent of the heatwave across the U.K. This heat wave started yesterday and is expected to end tonight, few! I have marked out Brighton and Hove (where I’m from) with a yellow circle…

(Daily Mail, 2022), depicting where Brighton and Hove is located in relation to the rest of the U.K.

As you can tell, there will be potential highs of 40 degrees and above inland! This will be a new record for England that will topple the previous record of 38.7 degrees, back in 2019. Our country’s infrastructure hasn’t been built for this sort of heat and that’s why we seem to be making such a fuss, how English of us!

As for Hove, my home town, we are lucky to experience cooler temperatures. We will experience highs of 30 degrees today which is still unusual for us. My studio is a half an hour walk from my home and so I’ve decided not to walk there to stay out of the heat. I could definitely do with a fan at my studio! I’m currently creating a limited edition print and will reveal all later this week.

Here are some tips to keep your pets safe in the heat wave…
